About Thrive Boxing Academy

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

At Thrive Boxing Academy, we believe boxing is more than just a sport—it’s a way to build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of community. Founded with a deep passion for coaching both children and adults in the art of amateur boxing, Thrive is a place where everyone has the opportunity to grow, learn, and succeed.

More Than Just Boxing

The name Thrive may seem unusual for a boxing team, but founder Kerry Norfolk chose it with purpose. Our academy is built on the belief that everyone deserves a space to develop both physically and mentally in a supportive, community-driven environment. Our core values—Positively, Respectfully, Together—create the foundation for young people to thrive, not just in the ring but in all areas of life.

A Community That Cares

You may have heard the phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child.” This African proverb reflects our approach at Thrive Boxing Academy. We understand that a child's success isn’t just shaped by their individual efforts but by the support of a whole community. That’s why we encourage involvement from parents, coaches, teachers, and local community members to create a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for our young athletes.

Get Involved

If you care about the future of our community and want to be part of something bigger, we invite you to join us—whether as a participant, a coach, or a supporter. Together, we can help the next generation thrive.

Meet The Team

Kerry has over 30 years of experience in contact sports and a passion for coaching amateur boxing. Beginning her coaching journey with Norwich City ABC, Kerry later founded Thrive Boxing Team, focusing on the development of recreational boxers to national-level competitors. As a regional lead for the Eastern Counties Next Gen Female Team, she has gained valuable insights
through programs like RAIR, Female Coaching in the Community, and the UK Talent Coach Pathway.

Kerry enjoys coaching across all levels, from recreational boxers to competition. A particular area of interest is coaching schools and junior development squads; this involves planning weekly sessions, providing boxers with a personal development plan including regular reviews, encouraging boxers to regional training sessions. At Thrive we have a shared coaching philosophy:

“positively, respectively, together’ and we uphold the ethos “no egos, just boxing”.

Kerry brings energy to Thrive coaching sessions. A notable characteristic is her leadership skills embedding an inclusive learning environment. Kerry is an effective communicator and uses her diplomatic skills to build strong relationships which promotes an inclusive culture.
